We have around 400,000 customers in our region that struggle from different types of vulnerability. This could be for a short period, for example job loss to long term age related or mental health vulnerability. That doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t afford to pay their bill but it could be that due to their circumstance they may find it difficult to access our services.
Since 2015, we’ve helped more than 200,000 customers in financial difficulty and visited more than 90,000 homes to provide those who are struggling additional support and benefits they didn’t know they were entitled to. We want to reach even more of our customers who may need extra help. So we’ve launched a campaign – ‘here to help’ - in an effort to try and reach those who may not be aware of the support on offer to them.
